                      Brainstorm

This strategy is often used when all else fails. Brainstorming means looking at a problem in new and inventive ways. When students encounter problems that they cannot solve, they must be encouraged to open up, stretch, allow for inspiration, be creative, be flexible and keep on trying until a light goes on!

                      Example Problems

                      Picture

Which is better, a new five dollar bill or an old one dollar bill?

Does it matter that the one dollar bill is old? No, five dollars is more than one dollar. Five dollars is always better than one.
